Between 1971 and 1979 he handled and litigated dozens of cases in the Office of the General Counsel at the National Labor Relations Board. In 1980 he started his own practice, focusing on employment and labor cases. Profile Detail

Alan Banov, an honors graduate of George Washington University National Law Center, worked for the National Labor Relations Board for 8 years and started his law firm in 1980. For almost 40 years he practiced employment and labor law. Most of his cases involved various sorts of discrimination in the workplace. He was recognized as a very good employment lawyer and was twice elected President of the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association. In his practice he learned that settlements, sometimes before litigation, were the best course for his clients.

In Mr. Banov mediating civil rights cases for the Montgomery County Office of Human Rights, and in 1998 he began mediating civil cases for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. In 2001 was accepted as a mediator for the Circuit Court for Montgomery County. While his forte as a practitioner was employment law, most of the cases he has mediated for the courts include personal injury cases, breaches of contract, foreclosures, and construction disputes. Nonetheless, his vast experience as an employment law can definitely benefit parties who wish to mediate employment and labor law issues.
